The midi skirt brings back the classic, demure dainty look of the 1950s. What fascinates me about this ensemble is how it gives that soft, ladylike silhouette on the woman's body and how it tranforms her into a sophisticated and elegant creature in any given day. Midis can be a "make-or-break" challenge to embark on. In all honesty, I myself was a kind of intimated by it mainly for one reason.. it looks better on tall women. But I just couldn't let this one pass so I pulled a few tricks to make it work on my favor. Here are a few different ways on how to nail an ultimate flattering look with midi skirts.
First, find the right midi for your size and shape. It should sit right above your waistline to flatter your shape or a tad higher for a retro girlish style. As I have mentioned earlier, Midis can be a bit of an arduous task to pull off. Thankfully, after careful research, I have learned that with it's latest revamp, midis can now be worn with lengths that range from just below the knee to a couple of inches above the ankle. In my case, I chose a midi that will show more of my legs to make me look taller.
Choosing the right footwear to go with your midi is very critical. High heeled shoes is an absolute must! If you want to look taller, pick a shoe that exposes the top of the foot to add length to your legs. A thin strappy sandal can work too. I usually choose a classic pump for a more dramatic and dainty look.
